About
The Vedas are a vast collection of spiritual texts that originated in ancient India and contain Sanskrit prayers, hymns, and mantras. The Vedas are considered the source texts for Yoga, Vedānta, Bhagavad Gītā, and other important practices and philosophies from India, and they have been preserved for millennia through oral tradition that continues to this day by teacher passing on recitation to student. This oral tradition keeps the Vedas alive and its mantras intact. In this six-part series, students will build a strong foundation in Vedic recitation. Areas of focus will be on the six rules of Vedic chanting, as well as learning six Vedic mantras (namo brahmaṇe, gaṇapati prārthanā, sarasvatī prārthanā, saha nāvavatu, pūrṇamadaḥ, and mahāmṛtyañjaya). By the end of this program, students will: ~ Have a strong foundation in Vedic chanting ~ Clearly understand the tonal, rhythmic nature of Vedic chanting ~ Learn the basics of the Sanskrit alphabet for correct pronunciation ~ Know the most important chanting rules of Vedic recitation ~ Learn six important Vedic mantras ~ Develop a daily chanting practice ~ Submit six recordings to receive personalized feedback
