About the event
In this workshop, we will take a close look at two very important concepts in Ayurveda and Yoga. Agni is fire; it is the ability to digest and transform everything that we consume. Soma is nectar; it is that which nourishes the body, heart and mind. Agni and soma are the cosmic consorts that pervade all of nature. They intertwine on various levels and each is ultimately contained within the other.
We will begin with a broader look into the Yogic understanding of how everything in manifestation can fall into one of the two categories of agni and soma and how these complimentary energies serve as the basis for our own physiology and psychology. Then we will use the lens of Ayurveda to narrow our focus to two very specific forms of agni and soma: jatharagni and ojas.
Jatharagni is the fire in the navel responsible for all metabolic processes. Keeping it balanced helps to improve digestion, elimination and energy. Ojas is the end-product of good digestion, and is absolutely necessary for immunity, endurance, peace of mind and vitality. We will discover how diet, lifestyle and herbs can all be implemented in the development of jatharagni and ojas, and practical suggestions will be made to begin to transform your health right away.
